The article I read today is called Coke Zero, the Deadliest Beverage…or So They Say by Ted Elliott. This article talks about the different ingredients in Coke Zero and how they will affect our bodies. I always hear a lot about sodas are bad for our health and we shouldn’t drink them. This article gives powerful evidence from researches that the ingredients in sodas are not harmful to our bodies. As the ingredient list on Coke Zero lists, the top five items that the beverage contains are carbonated water, caramel color, phosphoric acid, aspartame, and potassium benzoate. These items are listed at the top because Coke Zero contains the greatest quantities of them. Just by looking at the names, I believe someone will be shocked. How can we put these things into our bodies? Aren’t they chemicals and supposed to be kept away from us? However, the ingredients in Coke Zero are not that scary. As the data collected by FDA shows, the amounts of these chemicals are way less than the amount that can do any harm. So Coke Zero is safe for us to drink, just don’t drink a whole lot.
I am never a big fan of coke, but two of my friends love coke and they will drink coke every time we are having meals together (as for the times we are not having meals together, I don’t know what they are driving, but probably coke as always). My mom used to tell me that if I drink too much coke, I will grow a beard. She said it was because coke contains the dark color and the color will deposit. I don’t know for other people, although it sounds ridiculous, it is actually true for me.
I used to be a huge fan of coke. I quit drinking too much coke because I gained over 15 pounds by drinking soda. I also heard that too much coke will affect people's hearts.
