No.49: A Job

I did not have any paid jobs actually. I wanted to but since I was on an L-2 visa, which is the companion or family member of L-1 business visa, I was not allowed by law to take any paid jobs. However, I did some volunteer work in Camp Greenville during the breaks when I was in high school. It is a camp that’s on the border between North Carolina and South Carolina. In order to get there from Greenville, SC, where I stayed for two years, you have to go to North Carolina first and turn back to South Carolina. It is weird, I know.  I actually went there twice. The second time I went there as a counselor. It was supposed to be a paid job, but because of my special status, I did not get paid like other American kids did.

There were also some guys from New Zealand there to work as counselors. I did not know whether they got paid or not. But the thing I know is they were all really hot. And they were very nice people too. Ok, let’s get back to the topic. The parts I loved most about the Camp Greenville are the riflery and archery. I only had the shift for archery once during the whole time I was counselor there. And I was very excited to take that job. However, I did not really get the chance to do that because I went to sleep instead. It was like the second day after I came back from China, and I had jet lag. I was so tired in the afternoon. So when I went to the archery place and there was no one there, I turned back to the dorm and went to sleep. I felt so bad when I went to dinner that day because a lot of people thought I was sick and asked me if I was Ok.
