No.38: Personal Anecdote

Since my argument for the research paper is about peer rejection and its influence on people, I decided to do an exactly opposite topic for my CP paper. My final argument for my CP paper is about what kind of people do most people want to befriend with? Well, it looks like there is not any connection between my two arguments, but anyway, I still put them together in one sentence. I know this is a stereotyped topic to talk about, but please don’t be annoyed.

I am not an outgoing person, so it is kind of hard for me to make friends on my own initiative. However, when I came to the OSU for the first time last fall, because I was in a totally different place all by myself, I would have to take the initiative and make friends. The person I choose to befriend with, before I really get to know that person, is usually the one who looks nice to me. That was how I made my first friend in Columbus, and she is a good friend after I have spent some time with her. She has same interest as I do and she is very willing to help when I have problems or get into trouble. However, I have made another friend when I got here; I thought she looked nice too. But as time went by, and I found out that she was an annoying person. Not trying to be mean to her, but I didn’t like her. She only thought about herself all the time and never helped others.

So the point my argument wants to stress is that people like to make friend with people who are kind and who have same interest as they do. But people who look nice or cool at first, but not who you think they are when you get to know them.
